Informative, entertaining and enjoyable are just three of the words which come to mind when thinking about this years National Livestock Show (Ireland).

One of the 50,000

One of the 50,000

The event was a huge success with a great range of exhibitions and classes present to captivate any visitors attention. So what made it a success? A lot of different factors. First of all there were six hundred and fifty trade stands, each with an excellent array of useful products and services on offer. A €160,000 prize fund attracted a number of Scottish entries this year. Several new gold medals for livestock were introduced. In addition to all of this the fact that several agricultural societies held their own national shows within this event. Attendance figures reached 50,000 on the day.

European Agricultural Association was pleased with most general issues related to the event and look forward to its next occurrence in 2011. Special praise was given, by the attending EAA committee, to the manor in which the cattle, horse, poultry and sheep sections were managed by the overall show team.

It has been announced that next years show will take place Sunday 14th August on Butterfield Estate.
