One of the oldest events of its type, Moate Agricultural show, takes place on the 4th Saturday of August every year.   Some of the All Ireland events to be held during the show include the Anthony Browne All Ireland Filly Foal Competition, Chocolate Cook of the Year All Ireland Final and the All Ireland Cocker Spaniel Championship.   Show classes are reported to exist in the show for horses, ponies, donkeys, cattle, sheep, dogs, poultry, farm produce, vegetables, fruit, flowers, floral arrangements, cookery, preserves & honey, photography, art both adult and junior, country crafts and needlework, children’s classes, horse and pony jumping.   This year the European Agricultural Association (EAA) has announced that Mark Bannon, as a representative, will be attending the show.
