The Institute has an internal policy with allows for the collection and disclosure of certain details relating to senior officers of the organisation.  We sometimes disclose such information to members of the public with the overall goal of promoting an open and transparent management process.  On this website you will find information regarding the posts held by Mark Bannon, either currently or in the recent past, within various organisations.

Organisation: ICANN GNSO’s Noncommercial Stakeholders Group (NCSG)

About the Organisation:

ICANN is a not-for-profit which was formed in 1998 to coordinate IP addresses worldwide. It is dedicated to keeping the Internet secure, stable and interoperable.  GNSO is the main policy-making body of ICANN and comprises of four main groups: registries (companies running generic top-level domains (gTLDs) such as VeriSign for dot-com or Afilias for dot-info); registrars (companies that sell registrations of particular domains e.g. icann.org); business constituency; and NCUC.   The latter is the home for civil society organizations and individuals within ICANN.  NCUC consists of 175 members from 75 countries consisting of 80 organisations and 95 individuals.  With voting power in ICANN policy making and Board selection, it develops and supports positions that favor noncommercial communication and activity on the Internet.  At present a new body is being formed in ICANN called NCSG, within the near future NCUC will become incorporated into this new body.
