We often say in the healthcare professions that the consumption of ”greens” are good for us. This statement is not only limited to food, it can also be viewed in terms of energy consumption. By going green an organisation can play its part in saving the environment in which we live. Therefore it is good to go green as much as possible. Since human and animal health is connected closely to the quality of environment in which we live, IHRI has decided to make a bold statement regarding the type of energy it consumes for running its offices and technical equipment. It is our hope that others will follow by example. Our offices and our data centers are now all powered by 100% wind energy. Since generating wind energy on site is not feasible, all of our electricity use is being offset with wind-generated Renewable Energy Certificates. This means by using data centers which are eco-friendly we are playing our part in helping to prevent the release of 2,660 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year. That is equivalent to the planting of approximately 2,390 acres of trees or not driving 6.1 million miles.
